Tentative book

by Lotte on May 13, 2012 at 8:08 pm

Today I decided that I would spend half an hour a day working on a Poly in Pictures book until it was done. Five hours later, it was done, slightly ahead of schedule.

I’ve sent it to the printer websitey thingy, and they say it’ll be about £23 for you lot with postage included, I think. (I think I get £3.50-£4 per copy.) I’ve ordered a proof copy, and if it’s okay I’ll let you all know how you can buy it around early June. It should also be available as an e-book.

How pleasing! I’m a bit scared.

There seems to be not a comic.

by Lotte on May 7, 2012 at 12:20 am

I would like to do one tomorrow, I think. I still feel very off-kilter with this comic.

Also, I should tell you about my life, in particular the accommodation bit. At the end of this month I am moving from my big flat containing only me, into a room in a shared house. This is going to be VERY STRANGE and probably quite traumatic. Maybe quite expensive, to begin with. And mostly, unpredictable.

Between now and then, I am desperately shedding possessions as fast and as ethically as I can. This could potentially be quite traumatic, but so far is not too bad. I hope it stays that way. For this reason, share your decluttering tips in the comments! (Thank you.)

On a related note, if you’re in Swansea and you want a heavy-duty guillotine that can cut 400 pages at the same time, let me know. #whatwasIthinking

Phone case?

by Lotte on April 23, 2012 at 1:47 pm

I may slightly have woken up this morning and made a phone case out of a tie. This is sort of a test run, but I think it turned out okay. I can’t find anything wrong with it, anyway. My phone is 6 x 11 x 1.5 cm and fits with a little room to spare.

Would anyone like to buy it? The money will go towards webhosting and other comic-related costs.

I am a goody two shoes

Sewn on a hand-cranked sewing machine, so it used no electricity. Made from an unwanted tie with a lost button I found somewhere and a random keyring loop, so the only new resource used was sewing thread. It will be sent using recycled packaging.

ETA: Gifted. :)

No more glubs

by Lotte on April 1, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I’m not trying to be condescending, I just genuinely do always call gloves “glubs”.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that it looks really unlikely that I’ll be knitting any more handwarmers. These are already made, so they’re the last pair for sale:

Nom? Nom.

I know that there will be people who’ll ask me for some anyway, because that always happens. ;) So, in advance, to answer your question, a pair of custom handwarmers such as this will cost you £30, supposing I feel like making them at all. It takes me 7 hours to make a pair, so that’s £3.90-ish per hour after yarn costs.

I made this handmade socks listing once, when I worked out that the going rate for knitting these days is about £1.70 per hour. Take a guess at how much a handmade pair of socks should cost, and then click the link. It’s a fun few seconds.

Français

by Lotte on March 24, 2012 at 11:03 pm

Ahoy,

I might possibly have planned a couple of comics for next week. But don’t quote me on that. They might not want to be made yet.

But on a more useful and interesting note, Alice (at Déconstructions asexuelles) who reads the webcomic has been collecting awesome articles and things about asexuality and translating them into French for the good of humanity. How awesome is that. I’d blog about it anyway, but I found out when she asked if she could translate Alliance into French and I thought those of you with French-speaking pals might like to know. Here it is.
