175a. The Crew of the Poly Roger
Meet the most excellent crew of the Poly Roger. They are (left to right) Chris, Jenn, Lauran, Edwin the Airship Pirate, Wendy, Daphne, Boo, Jacob, Deana and Jason. Deana commissioned this one, and I have to say, it is one of the most challenging comics I’ve done in a long time. So many different, distinct characters, each of which must be identifiable by the family involved! I really hope I did okay there. Deana told me that Daphne could tell who everyone was without being told, so I feel that’s a good sign. I also really liked the photo of Angel’s Rest that Deana provided, and needed to come up with something sneaky to make the stick people show up against the dark and mottled areas of background, so came up with this white-outline technique.
A round of applause for Deana’s secret-keeping abilities, please, since I took many many weeks over this!
Overall, it has been a most enjoyable challenge that taught me a lot more than I thought it would.

Squeee!! Our Heart Family has been immortalized in a comic! You are the bestest! I’m the Wendy in our crew. Ayla (who prefers to go by Boo) is Chris’s and my Kidlet. She was also able to name everyone without a problem. 😀
