Yep. Generally by small children (which I don’t mind; teachable moment and all). I ask them what they think and why does it matter. It does get rather offensive when adults or children older than 6 ask. I once had a 10-year-old stranger walk up to me and ask: “Are you trying to be a boy?” His mother was standing too close for me to respond in an adequately sharp manner.
I don’t seem to get asked, people just stare o.o tbh I’d prefer for them to say something, then I can be sure I’m not imagining it and respond appropriately
Used to get asked that alot in secondsry school. The answer is, of course, ‘Ask your Mum’.
Certainly. Why do you ask?
“Often”
“A Magic 8 Ball.” Then they say ‘What?’ And I say, “Try asking again.” Not really, but I’m a hermit.

This makes my life.
I haven’t been asked this, but I have a response lined up.
“Maybe. Let me get back to you on that.”
One genderqueer friend of mine once answered this question: “I’m a moon monster.”
I hugged hir and told hir that ze’s AWESOME.
I’ve not been asked this for a long time, but I’ve decided on, “Occasionally,” as my stock answer.
